5 Steps to General Hair Care


Beautiful hair starts from a basic hair care routine. Whatever state your hair may be, everyone should follow these 5 general guidelines to keep the hair nourished and healthy at all times.

1) Wash Your Hair the Right Way

If possible, try not to wash your hair every day. Reason being, your hair actually secretes natural oils that is good for the hair. Shampooing your hair day after day would strip off these good oils. How many days should you wash your hair depends from person to person.

Some individuals have oilier hair than others and might be best to wash their hair on alternate days. You should also keep your hair wash days on occasions where you would be applying hair products like hair spray and gel.

1) Drying Your Hair with a Blow Dryer

Should you dry your hair with a blow dryer, keep the setting to cool instead of hot. Blow dryers should also be kept at a distance to protect the scalp from any form of heat. Any type of direct to the scalp can easily cause breakages and destroy your hair.

3) Avoid Brushing Wet Hair

Your hair is most fragile when it is wet. Any forms of rigorous strain on wet hair like brushing and towel-wringing will cause your hair strands to fall.

4) Treat Your Hair Every Once in Awhile

Conditioning treatments like egg oil, argan oil and coconut oil can greatly nourish the hair when applied directly. These oils contains the necessary minerals and components required for healthy hair such as protein (keratin) and zinc.

5) Avoid Excessive Use of Styling Products

Hair styling products can cause your scalp to dry up and form breakage. If you do use styling products, apply them on hair strands and avoid contact with the scalp as much as possible. Shampooing your hair at the end of the day is also a must!
